Police think the story of Ahn Jae Hwan’s death was caused by him not giving back money he borrowed. This later on brought another suicide day.
Police later on settled that he had billions or more debts from people he asked money from and failed to pay all of them back because of the failure of his business.
Jung Sun-Hee, wife of Ahn Jae Hwan, didn’t know about all the debts he had to pay until he went missing on August 22. In another interview with her she said that she got a threatening call from someone that lent Ahn Jae Hwan money and allegedly kidnapped Ahn Jae Hwan.
A friend of Ahn Jae Hwan said that he kept in touch with Ahn Jae Hwan after his disappearance. He also said that he met Ahn’s family on Friday and told them what he knows.
The family also says that Jung Sun-Hee was kidnapped but released after she payed 500 million won to the kidnappers. They also want police to keep investigating the crime closely due to several kinds of cigarettes and food in Ahn Jae Hwan’s car. They think that he wasn’t alone at the time of his death.
According to Ahn Jae Hwan’s sister, Jung Sun-Hee was supposed to pay an additional 500 million won after she was released but couldn’t pay it back to the kidnappers.
Police also said that Jung Sun-Hee left a message for Ahn Jae Hwan after the disappearance. She said “Why are you not answering even my call? You know I won’t lend you money because I don’t have money. We can overcome it together. Please come back.”
A police officer also stated “Considering the message, Jung was aware of Ahn’s debt before he went missing. She seems to have refused Ahn’s request to lend money to him. It is also unlikely that she was kidnapped with Ahn.”
Police are trying to find out more on his death.
