Lee Hyori Accused Of Plagiarism

Here we go again with another act of plagiarism. No one is certain of what is to come for this, but we’ll be able to find out when the time comes.

Lee Hyori has been caught red-handed of plagiarizing six songs from her new album, H-Logic. She plagiarized the songs “Bring It Back”, “Swing”, “How Did We Get”, “Memory”, “I’m Back” and “Feel The Same.” And I’m certain that these artists are not happy about this…In 2008 a Canadian group called Cookie Couture released a song titled, “Boy Bring It Back.” This month, it appears that Hyori’s “Bring It Back” song has the same exact tune to it.

Cookie Couture is said to be an all dynamic Canadian singing group and is set to show the world what Canada’s got. There are five Ontario native members: J-Beauty, Fran-Kay, Elisa, Stacey, and Kitana. They are originally dancers and actresses and show an example of girl power! Their name comes from the idea that cookies have different shapes and sizes and come in many different flavors. Wanna know more about them? Check out their MySpace.

Anyways, Cookie Couture’s Stacey Maroske stated on the ZackTaylor website,

“I was shocked when I first heard Lee Hyori’s 2010 recording. I couldn’t believe how similar the song was. It’s almost an exact replica, even down to our vocal riff’s. I mean we worked really hard as a group to write this song and perfect it back in 2008. It just seems really unfair that this song is being sold on iTunes by an artist who has stolen the song from us. It’s plagiarism, and we hope we see justice.”

On YouTube, Cookie Couture’s Fran-Kay expressed,

“Let me explain something to you. Just because we aren’t huge artist’s, doesn’t mean we aren’t trying. Bring it back is the first song we’ve ever made. In a sense its a compliment that she liked our song so much, that she recreated it, but taking our song without permission and selling it is wrong. We haven’t made a dime off of our song, and she’s making money. I’m sure you understand the situation.”

Nobody from Lee Hyori’s company could be reached about this plagiarism and Cookie Couture’s lawyer are doing their best to stop this.

As I mentioned Lee Hyori also stole the tune to another artist. A popular Greek composer, Mikis Theodorakis composed a song titled, “The Train Leaves By 8.” Lee Hyori’s “Swing” has the same type of instrumental to it. There have been no complaints from Theodorakis since he is still alive today. Dead or alive, Lee Hyori or her composer should’ve gotten permission to copy it.

With further research Lee Hyori’s “How Did We Get” is similar to Jason Derulo’s “How Did We.” Lee Hyori’s “I’m Back” is similar to Lil Precious’ “So Insane.” Hyori’s “Memory” is similar to Second Person’s “Alphabet Song.” Hyori’s “Feel The Same” is simlar to Melanie Durrant’s “Feel The Same.”

She’s in another doo doo. I hope that this will all end well. But I think we should blame the composers for giving Lee Hyori the song, but we’ll wait till the story develops.

  2. i come from greece and i feel really angy because the person who wrote this song calle the train leaves at 8 happens to be a very important personality a representive of our music culture. His sogs had played an important role during difficult historical times, during dictatorship, world war 2.What is more he fought for freedom,he’s been through exile and jail because of the meaning of freedom that he tried to pass through his songs at these tyranical times. How can someone especially a korean’s idol sing a song with such a huge meaning without even refering his name in the cd.It is the same as stealing our history.DON’T MISUNDERSTAND ME. I LIKE HER VERSION AND HER VOICE WE WOULD LIKE IT TO BE PROMOTED TO OUR COUNTRY TOO BUT AT LEAST THERE SHOULD BE A THANKS TO THE REAL COMPOSER MIKIS THEODORAKIS.IT’S NOT JUST THE SONG IT’S MORE WHAT HE STANDS FOR.

    • Get your facts straight, Lee Hyori had no idea of this plagiarism .. It was all Lee Jae-Young’s fault as he intentionally produced/composed these plagarized songs to Lee Hyori, which got Lee Jae-Young sentenced to jail time..

  5. It wasn’t Lee hyori who plagiarized the song …She is the singer but the Composer who said to be Bahnus is the one that offered the songs to her…and without hesitations she’d just grab it… watch her videos about this first… It’s not her fault actually… She just didn’t check the songs first because I think she trusted the composer who gave her the song…
