What Has Been Up With Utada? [News From August To Now]

That’s what I’ve been wondering for days now. Well, it seems like the girl might not be coming back for some while.

There have been quite a lot of stuff going on with Utada and the deetz are finally out. Since last year after Utada’s third try in breaking into the American market didn’t work as well as we thought it would, no one knows what’s been up with her. But great news for those who have a twitter… Utada now owns one.

It was revealed on August that Utada would go on a Hiatus in 2011 to learn more about herself, the world, music, and settle private matters. After the news broke out some fans went wild because she hadn’t released anything since her last album “This Is The One.” As the days went by, Utada’s management finally revealed that she will release a new album titled “Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2” along with five new tracks.

[She looks so elegant and graceful. I love the picture.]

It was revealed later on in September that Utada will release a new track called “Hymne à l’amour (Ai no Anthem)” for the Pepsi Nex Zero soft drink. It will be a cover of the classic from Edith Piaf. The most surprising thing to this is that this will be Utada’s first time singing a song in French. Though, there will be a little Japanese thrown into parts of the song, it’s quite amazing. This is not the first time we’ve heard Utada sing in French. In her song “Boku Wa Kuma (I am a bear),” she sang some parts in French. The song has been released and you could check it out and download it here. There was also a CM released for Pepsi. Check this one out!

It was also revealed that it would be released on November 24th. To add onto the great news, Utada also revealed that she will be having a concert in Yokohama titled “WILD LIFE,” in which the tickets will be chosen in a lottery style way. The first pressings will include a 3-fold paper slip case, a Kuma chang amulet/ good luck charm and a lottery ticket for fans to win one of 1000 tickets for Utada’s two night concert in Yokohama on December.

Utada will also release a DVD for her tour “In The Flesh 2010” sometime soon. This DVD concert album will be the first album to be self-produced by Utada. To add onto great news, Utada will also release a “Utada the Best” album with her hit English songs all in one. As this news was revealed, some fans came to a shock when Utada wrote to her fans on her twitter to not buy the album. She stated

I understand that this album may not sell and I will have to be the person who takes the hit, but truthfully, I do not want my fans to put their money on this album because it has no new tracks to it. And plus, I don’t have my heart truly in it. This is against my will.

On October 28th, a preview of Utada’s first Japanese single “Goodbye Happiness” had been released, after nearly one and half year break from her Japanese lifestyle. On November 1st, the song was played fully on the Japanese radio and many people have been given good responses. To make fans get crazy, the PV is said to be released on November 9th. It has also been revealed that her newly highly anticipated video was directed by her.

I’m so freaking happy she’s releasing new songs. I cannot wait. Utada is one of my favorite artists ever! She’s the artists in my iPod that has over ten songs in it.
