[UPDATED] Evolution of Kpop (1995 – 2011) Part 3 Focuses on the Negative Parts of the Hallyu Wave

After re-uploading part 2 of this project, I felt bad to all the people that I told to check part two out TWICE. In order to show appreciation and apologize for all the glitches and problems, I decided to upload part three even quicker. I would’ve uploaded this Friday, but I thought, I might as well now. Smiley faces?

Anyway, part three will not be thoroughly fun for hardcore kpop fans who can’t take negative criticisms nicely. Continue reading

[Movie Review] The Wonder Girls At The Apollo

Well, just yesterday I finally watched Wonder Girls’ movie titled “The Wonder Girls at the Apollo.” Because I watched the movie, I thought it’d be a fun idea to do a movie review for it. Now, I’m going to be harsh and I’m going to be nice. I observed almost everything about the movie. To their styles, their walk and of course their performance. Now, I did not leave the crew behind the camera out also. I watched the editing, I watched for lighting and I also watched for how the camera operator performed. Some people may ask “how would I know these things?” Well, I actually take film classes and acting classes, so I understand 70/30 of everything that was going on. This will be an interesting journey. Won’t it, KoJos?

Okay, let’s start with the story. The story was, well, cliché. Continue reading

Evolution of Kpop (1995 – 2011) Part 2 Released!

I’m sorry I took so long just to upload the part 2. I was supposed to upload it last weekend, but I got really lazy and spent two weeks off. Haha. Anyway, the part two is now released. This one talks about tourism, money and the first Korean to reach the Billboard’s Hot 100 as well as more videos focusing in the years of 2002 to 2004. Hope you guys enjoyed the first part and will enjoy this part.

More parts will be coming soon, of course. Three more to go. Continue reading

Korean High School Life – Study, Suicide and Beauty

Well, this was something I didn’t really garner too much interest in until a friend of mine sent me a video via Facebook. What a title, eh?

Anyway, I clicked on play and began watching the 18 minute documentary of a teenager’s life in Korea. At first, some stuff surprised me a little bit due to the fact that I live in the States and as more information was thrown at me, it just made me wonder many things.

The video explains many things in which Korean high school students focus on. The most important one: studying. In the video and information I discovered while researching, I realized that Korean students take sixteen hours off their daily life to study. I thought I spent long times studying. They take this time out of their daily life to study in order to pass exams, and passing exams means getting to a good school, and getting to a good school means getting a good career, and getting to a good career means obtaining a good life. Interesting, right? But the stress of studying and leaving out their social life also affects them, badly. One major problem being … suicide. Suicide has become highly common among Korean high school students, and the major cause being school. Daily life schedule as a Korean teenager attending boarding school: Continue reading

Evolution of Kpop (1995 – 2011) Part 1 … NOW OUT!!

Honestly, this project took over three months to complete from finding information, translating, downloading, brainstorming, editing, saving, losing files and so on. This was one of the longest project I had done. To even better the video, I spent my hard earned time trying to find a perfect editing software to make the video look clean cut for all of you guys and trust me, I tried. It may not look nice and neat to some, but please understand the time spent to make this video.

Firstly, let me explain what this video is about. The first video (part 1) will introduce what the Hallyu Wave and Kpop are. It will discuss the international fame it took and then we shall move on to videos and music. If you don’t understand what I mean, watch the video. Continue reading

Evolution of Kpop Trailer.. OUT!

Remember how I said I’d make a video on how Kpop music has progressed for a few years… well, I’m almost done! In order to tease those who have been waiting for it and to open the eyes of those who never knew about it, I made a 1 minute and thirty five second trailer. It’s not the best editing job, but it’s something, right?

This project pretty much talks about how Kpop has grown since the year of 1995 to 2011. I will separate the years in parts, so I can handle giving the videos out without making people wait too much. The video will talk about what Kpop is and how the Hallyu Wave is slowly taking a strong impact across the world. If you don’t know what the Hallyu Wave is, expect to know what it is by the time I begin uploading the videos. The video will also contain information on Kpop from the 90s to now. It will also inform viewers on the negative and postive impacts of it and some of the information I found was actually pretty shocking. Continue reading

I Make Too Much Promises – Might Be Deleted..? Wha?

Yes I do. I promised I’d be back on track and write on this blog almost every single day. But just like any other writer, you have to be encouraged to write. I guess for this past few weeks and month, I wasn’t really inspired. Especially since school began some few weeks back, and I already have enough writing to do over there. Haha. I really don’t know what to do with this blog. I don’t plan to delete it, but I might abandon it. I do have some plans to do though. I plan to keep up with the new movies and dramas, but not currently. I’m stacked with work. I’ve also planned to make another blog (or just keep this blog) and write about random topics. The AMBW topic has also been striking me quite lately. If you don’t know what AMBW means, it stands for Asian Men, Black Women. I’ve never tried to write down my race or what I do with my personal life on here, because I love mysterious things. So to be safe, we’ll keep it like that. Am I black, Asian, white..  I don’t know. You take a guess, but you might be wrong. I’ve also been quite interested in how big the Hallyu Wave has become. I would also love to write a topic on that. I also talked about it in my upcoming video titled “Evolution of Kpop (1995 – 2011).” Trust me, this one’s gonna be good.

Anyway, I promised before that I would make a “Evolution of Korean Music” video. Trust me, I’ve already began on that project. The video is really interesting and I can’t wait to upload it on YouTube and share it with all you beautiful people. It took me some while because I wanted to find the perfect editing software. I’ve entered the film class in my school, so I hope this video is way better than what you expect. Since I’m taking film school, I really don’t know what else will be in store on this blog or on the youtube page. Anyway, I’ve stopped writing news. It’s just too long to translate, copy, read, understand, blah blah.

For now, I cannot do much. I probably can write once a month/ two months. It’s been tough these past few weeks. I’ll get back on my polls. Get back on my music. But for now, AMERICA awaits me with their music.

I hope many people will come and visit the old posts on this blog, enjoy life, and keep loving. Bai bai.
